A couple of hundred years ago we had the industrial revolution. That’s when economic value started to be measured as an hourly rate. To increase your value and get paid more you had to increase the number of hours you worked. Over time, busyness started to be culturally celebrated.

To create a stable platform and make our greatest contribution in the world, I believe we need to pay attention to 5 key pillars.
A quick audit of your performance in each different pillar area will give you a clear indication of where you need to pay additional attention.
We are not linear machines, we cannot expect the same output every day
DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?
Are you operating from tired all the time or have you been tired for a very long time?
The etymology of the word exhaustion comes from the early 17th century from the Latin exhaurie 'to drain out' - 'a drawing off of strength'.
EXHAUSTION is the prelude to BURNOUT and characterised by the need for rest, replenishment or peace (due to an internal or external conflict).
Exhaustion is a real companion state to busyness and when we are not our best selves, disempowered states tend to show up.
SUPERHUMAN: pushing through even when we are exhausted. Working evenings and weekends to ensure we meet those deadlines and expectations.
MARTYR or PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE: putting everyone else first before ourselves and silently seething/irritable.
VICTIM: boundaries are rarely respected and feeling powerless to change the situation.
The result of these states can cause issues in our health, relationships and career.
The prefrontal cortex of our brains is a key structure for performing executive functions.
Exhaustion makes it hard for us to: focus, follow directions, handle our emotions, recall memories, plan and organise, come up with solutions/be creative and multitask.
If you have ever come home from work with brain ache and been unable/unwilling to make yet another decision, you may be experiencing reduced cognitive function.
Escaping exhaustion often looks like: staying up late, numbing with Netflix, self-medicating with sugar/caffeine, unable to switch off and be fully present and even avoiding connecting with others
Research into chronic burnout by neuroscientists revealed
Neuroimaging studies of people who have experienced severe early-life trauma have revealed that their brains show similar patterns to the brains of people suffering from clinical burnout.
The amygalda - a brain structure that is critical in regulating emotional reactions including fear and aggression is enlarged and has weaker connectivity during burnout. Resulting in more difficulty modulating negative emotional responses and increased stress and anxiety.
The frontal cortex, a brain area essential to cognitive functioning begins to thin as part of the normal ageing process, but patients suffering from burnout showed more pronounced thinning, accelerating the ageing process.
In 13 out of 15 studies, burnout was associated with cognitive deficits "specifically, executive attentional and memory systems appear to suffer in association with burnout, and cognitive function is impaired in burned-out individuals."
Burnout it not just a state of mind, but a condition that leaves its mark on the brain as well as the body.
IT'S EASY TO TELL OURSELVES, "WE JUST NEED TO REACH THE NEXT STAGE IN OUR LIVES/CAREER" OR "I HAVE NO CHOICE".
MEANWHILE EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING ELSE IN OUR LIVES GETS SIDELINED.

How do you manage it all? This is the question I get asked most frequently.
I run my own coaching business, have three young children and exercise five times a week to compete in open water swimming. All of this is the perfect excuse for the limiting belief of “I’m too busy”. I used to say it to myself all the time.
8 years ago, I was at the height of what I call, “superwoman mode”. Running at 200 mph, relentlessly pushing to prove myself. I felt overwhelmed, tired all the time and suffered from diminished performance and eroded confidence.
Knowing that my own repeating patterns of behaviour were at the very core of it I decided to deal with it once and for all.
In the past, I'd had counselling and CBT for anxiety. It got me 60% to where I wanted to be. Being coached gave me the elusive 40% back, whilst simultaneously opening up a whole new set of skills and resources that I didn't even know existed within me.
I found the tools so uncomplicated, yet profound that I went through a rigorous 12 month qualification to coach and teach these exact tools. I am now a fully regulated coach with over 60 gold standard coaching and NLP-based tools to support your journey.
Becoming a coach also meant really tackling the systems and processes it takes to be highly-effective and find true balance. I invested over £20K in courses and reading material on these skills so you don't have to.
This MOMENTUM App is all of that learning, simplified into the core and essential parts without the waffle and straight to the point.
I am dedicated to help others make the same shift and I can't wait to support you.
